Brief History of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti University
This university was established on 1st of October, 2009. Moreover, it was established under UP state universities Act. However, it was first called “Uttar Pradesh Urdu, Arab-Farsi University”. Then, on 4th Of April in 2011, the university was renamed. The new name of the University was “Shri Kanshiramji, Urdu Arab Farsi University”. Furthermore, in August of 2012, it was renamed again.
“Khwaja Moinuddin Urdu Arabi – Farsi University” was its new name.
Khwaja Moinuddin was a Sufi saint of Ajmer. Moreover, he was known for his kindness and charity. He was born in Afghanistan in 1141 CE. Other names of this saint are “Gharib Nawaz” , “benefactor of poor”. Khwaja Moinuddin was one of the most famous saints. Additionally, a lot of Hindu and Muslims were inspired by him to follow the path of unity and truth. This happened when he left Lahore and went to Delhi. Further, he left Delhi and went to Ajmer city. There, he stayed with the Prince of North India – Raj Prithviraj.
There also, he inspired people to follow truth and humanity.
Location of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti University
Currently, the university is located in Lucknow. Additionally, it is present on 28 acres of land. The exact location is the bypass road of Sitapur-Hardoi. The university is located adjacent to Indian Institute of Management. Further, the UP government has added 15 more acres for the university. The proposal of 120 acres of land is being considered by the UP government.
Objectives of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti University
The university aims at promoting the culture through educating Urdu, Arabi and Farsi. Moreover, the university provides vocational and well as technical courses. This, students are able to join courses which can make them capable of jobs.
Funding of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti University
The total cost of project is approximately 100 crores. Further, this university is constructed in three phases. There are Unani and Ayurvedic colleges also. They are built on the land worth 150 Crores. Around 200 crores are already sent to the university for the project.
Library Of The University
The library promotes education and learning of Islamic culture. Several books are available in the library for the students to read. Moreover, there are 11,000 books in the library. These books are of different subjects.
2339 books out of 11,000 are publishe by Munshi Naval Kishor Press. Furthermore, more than thousand books are publishe by the wife of a late retired IAS. Mr, Ramesh Chandra. 1200 books by Mr. Mohsin Khan are present in the library. Moreover, a lot of copies of Holy Quran are also gifte to the University. These guys are provided by Ministry of Endowment and Islamic Affairs and Qatar Islamic Culture centre.
Semester System of the University
The university provides Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. Moreover, it follows the Semester system.
Faculty in the University
Including the assistant professors, associate professors and professors, the strength of the faculty is 74. Further, there are more than 50 people who work in the university as non-teaching staff.
