5 Ways To Choose The Right Catering Team For Your Corporate Event

Are you trying to find the right catering team to cook for an upcoming corporate event?

This can feel like a simple task; you find a catering team, book them, food appears and all is well. However, in 2025, with more culturally diverse workplaces, as well as a higher number of catering companies, it is important that you do a bit more than book the cheapest or the local options.

So, here are five things to think about when booking a catering team for your business or corporate event.

1. Think About Your Needs

Are you looking for full-service catering, or are you looking for a catering company that offers specialized foods?

Either way, when booking a catering team for your corporate event, make sure you have exactly what you are looking for in the front of your mind, and be sure to vocalize these needs in emails to get the list of companies narrowed down.

2. Look Into Local Companies

As is the way with choosing anything, you need to research local catering companies and look into their reviews. Have they received consistently high reviews and appraisals from previous customers?

Also, as you book food for a catering event, do they have reviews from similar businesses? Check independent reviews on Google, as this will help to narrow down the list of suitable catering groups in your area.

3. Consider Food Requirements

You need to consider food requirements for your corporate event, which may go beyond offering vegetarian options.

You should enquire into the availability of gluten-free food, vegan food, halal meat, and even alcohol-free drinks, as this will cast the widest net for all of those who may be attending. Be sure that the catering company is confident in their ability to offer this food, and when it arrives at the venue, be sure to label it for guests.

4. Book a Tasting Session!

You should ask to book a tasting session with any catering company you may book. Try to book at least one tasting session with three different catering teams, so you can get an idea of what is good, and what is not so good.

This will help you to also see the presentation that the company offers and will allow you to ask questions about ingredients, food requirements, and the renting of cutlery and crockery. It will also allow you to get a feel for the company; do the staff seem friendly and are they well-presented?

5. Catering Permits and Insurance

For your safety and sanity, when you have chosen a catering company, you will need to ensure that they have the right insurance, as well as the permits to operate as a catering company. Be sure to check that they have liability insurance which may cover any accidents or damages during the event, and be sure to check that they have health permits, which will ensure that they follow food safety rules.

Be sure to ask for proof, as this will reduce risks and will make sure that all runs smoothly!
